Description
AMINO ACIDS
Amino Acids are the basic building blocks to proteins and enzymes which transport molecules, build antibodies and chemical messengers such as hormones and neurotransmitters.
They are biologically important organic compounds composed of amine (-NH2) and carboxylic acid (-COOH) functional groups, along with a side-chain specific to each amino acid. The key elements of an amino acid are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.
There are 8 essential amino acids that have to be obtained from the diet. The remaining 14 can be synthesized within the body but maybe in some people who have inhibition of conversion pathways become conditionally essential.
