Vitamin D

For us in the UK the level of UV in the sunshine will be so low as to not be able to convert cholesterol in the skin to cholecalciferol (Vitamin D). from the 21st September to 21st March this process of endogenously producing Vitamin D is non-active.

Research has shown that the human body can store up to 3 month’s worth of Vitamin so by Christmas time it’s good to be thinking of a winter holiday below 30° latitude. The predominant waveband in the winter sunlight is blue and thus very little violet enters our skin or eyes. Hence the so called winter BLUES. You can measure whether you are synthesising Vitamin D by the length of your shadow. When your shadow is shorter than yourself you are synthesising. When it is longer you are not.

Mobile phone

Your cell phone has to amplify the receiving signal to you if you are in a low reception area i.e. 1 or 2 bars of signal only. This increases the microwave radiation to your brain substantially. Never let young children use cell phones as their skull is thinner and less bone content thus permitting radiation to penetrate deeper into their brains. Always use your mobile  hands free, with special earphones or on loud speaker. High use is considered to be more than 10 minutes a month!
