From Memory Loss to Dementia

Arora Hotel 7th March 2015

In this seminar Chris and Gill look at a natural medicine approach to preventing and managing this ever increasing common disorder.

The number of our patients with memory loss and dementia is steadily increasing.

Dementia starts with memory loss.

Research shows that, in 2013, there were 815,827 people with dementia in the UK. 773,502 of these people with dementia were aged 65 years or over. This represents one in every 79 (1.3%) of the entire UK population and 1 in every 14 of the population aged 65 years and over. In 2015, there will be 856,700 people with dementia in the UK at the current rate of prevalence.

Younger people also are developing dementia.

In 2013, there were 42,325 people with early-onset dementia (onset before the age of 65 years) in the UK.

If current trends continue and no action is taken, the number of people with dementia in the UK is forecast to increase by 40% over the next 12 years and of 156% over the next 38 years.

This presentation includes

  • Likely environmental and nutritional causes of memory loss
  • What nutrients and remedies may be of benefit in prevention and treatment
